About this course
HPS's own study notes for ACCA Audit and Assurance (AA), written for the current syllabus. They take you through every syllabus area in order, in plain English first and then precisely, with the methods and workings the exam expects.
The notes follow ACCA's syllabus areas:
Every lesson has an exam-style worked example with full workings, the common mistakes that cost marks, exam technique for the computer-based exam, a prompt for studying with an AI assistant, a lecturer's note, key points, and a quick check with answers. Each module ends with a quiz of eight questions in the style of ACCA's objective test questions, each with a worked explanation. Every lesson and quiz question is tagged to its official syllabus sub-area, so your quiz results feed your Knowledge DNA and point you at the sub-areas to revisit.
The standards and methods examinable at your sitting are set by ACCA's examinable documents, so check them for your exam. For the exam format, see the AA paper page and ACCA's specimen exam.
Who it is for: ACCA students preparing for Audit and Assurance (AA) on the current syllabus, studying on their own or alongside tuition. AA assumes the financial reporting knowledge of Financial Accounting (FA); Financial Reporting (FR) alongside helps.

Yes. If you do not yet meet ACCA's entry requirements, you can start with ACCA's Foundations in Accountancy route and move across. Graduates may be exempt from some Applied Knowledge and Applied Skills exams; ACCA's exemptions calculator shows what your qualification earns.
Up to 13 exams in three levels: Applied Knowledge (BT, MA, FA), Applied Skills (LW, PM, TX, FR, AA, FM) and Strategic Professional (SBL and SBR plus two options). Levels are taken in order; within a level you can sit the exams in any order.
You take two of Advanced Financial Management, Advanced Performance Management, Advanced Taxation and Advanced Audit and Assurance. Choose the two closest to the work you do or want to do; HPS lecturers can talk the choice through with you.
Session exams run four times a year, in March, June, September and December. BT, MA, FA and the Global and English versions of LW are on demand, so you sit them when you are ready at a registered centre. The ACCA page on this site lists the dates ACCA has published.
Up to four exams in a session and eight different exams in a calendar year. HPS recommends two papers per session for students working full time.
ACCA starts a new qualification. June 2027 is the last sitting of the current Applied Skills and Strategic Professional exams, and from September 2027 students sit the new qualification's exams. Plan your remaining papers around that date; the transition page explains the options.
