3.Why we use it

  • To provide tuition, learning access, assessments, results and certificates.
  • To personalise study plans, diagnostics and revision recommendations from your own performance.
  • To administer payments, invoices and enrolment status.
  • To run and secure timed examinations, including investigating suspected malpractice.
  • To answer enquiries and provide corporate reporting to your employer where you are enrolled through an organisation.
  • To meet legal and regulatory obligations and the requirements of awarding bodies.

4.Lawful basis

We process personal data under the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023 on the basis of performing a contract with you, our legitimate interests in running a secure and effective education service, compliance with legal obligations, and, where applicable, your consent. Where we rely on consent, for example to publish a testimonial, you may withdraw it at any time.

5.Sharing

We do not sell personal data.

  • Awarding bodies such as ACCA and ICAN, where needed to deliver tuition or examination services to you.
  • Your employer, where you are enrolled through a corporate account: completion and attendance are shared; individual diagnostic results are shared only when you have allowed it in your corporate profile.
  • Lecturers, markers and moderators engaged by HPS, for teaching, marking and support.
  • Service providers that host the platform, store files or process payments, under contracts that restrict their use of the data.
  • Recruiters, employers and educational institutions only where you ask us to, in line with HPS's published terms.
  • Authorities where the law requires it.

6.Retention

Account and learning records are kept while your account is active and for a period afterwards to support certificate verification, re-enrolment and legal obligations. Assessment attempt records are kept for the integrity of results. Payment records are kept for the period required by Nigerian tax and company law. Enquiry messages are kept until resolved and then for a limited period. You may ask us to delete your account; we will do so except where we must retain records by law or to verify a certificate you hold.

7.Security

Passwords are hashed, sessions use secure HttpOnly cookies, permissions are enforced on the server for every role, and uploaded proof-of-payment files are only readable by the person who uploaded them and by authorised finance staff. No system is perfectly secure; tell us immediately at info@hpsnig.org if you believe your account has been compromised.

8.Your rights

You may ask for a copy of the personal data we hold about you, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it, object to or restrict certain processing, and withdraw consent where processing is based on consent. Write to info@hpsnig.org. You also have the right to complain to the Nigeria Data Protection Commission.

9.Cookies and local storage

The platform sets two first-party cookies: a session cookie that keeps you signed in and an anonymous token that lets you take free practice tests without an account. It does not use third-party advertising or analytics trackers. Some conveniences, such as your Daily Challenge streak, are stored in your own browser only. The cookie policy has the details.

10.Children

The platform is intended for adult learners and for students of professional qualifications. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 18 without the involvement of a parent, guardian or school.

11.Changes

We will post any changes to this policy on this page with a new effective date and, for significant changes, notify account holders on the platform.
