About this course
HPS's own study notes for ICAN Taxation (TAX), written for the current syllabus. They take you through every syllabus area in order, in plain English first and then precisely, with the methods and workings the exam expects.
The notes follow ICAN's syllabus areas:
Every lesson has an exam-style worked example with full workings, the common mistakes that cost marks, exam technique, a prompt for studying with an AI assistant, a lecturer's note, key points, and a quick check with answers. Each module ends with a quiz of eight multiple-choice questions to check your understanding, each with a worked explanation; the exam itself is written, and the worked examples practise its scenario and computational questions. Every lesson and quiz question is tagged to its official syllabus sub-area (or to its area, where ICAN's syllabus has no sub-areas), so your quiz results feed your Knowledge DNA and point you at the parts of the syllabus to revisit.
What is examinable at your diet is set by ICAN's syllabus and its notices to students, so check them for your exam. For the exam format, see the TAX paper page.
Who it is for: ICAN students preparing for Taxation (TAX) on the current syllabus, studying on their own or alongside tuition. The notes follow the Nigeria Tax Act 2025 and the Nigeria Tax Administration Act 2025, in force from 1 January 2026, which ICAN's updated syllabus examines; rates and thresholds come from the Acts as published in the Official Gazette.
